My name is Jon Ballard, and I'm the author of a novel, Year of the Poets (Loose Leaves Publishing, 2014), a full-length poetry collection, Possible Lives (Kelsay Press, 2020), and five poetry chapbooks, including Somewhere Between (Finishing Line Press, 2013). My poetry and fiction have appeared in over seventy literary journals, both digitally and in print, including Cimarron Review, Flint Hills Review, The MacGuffin, Midwest Review, Broadsided, New Plains Review, Weave Magazine, and San Pedro River Review. I received my MA in English from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

For the last twenty years, off and on, I have been an adjunct instructor at Oakland Community College in southeastern Michigan, where I've taught composition ad nauseam, though also on a few rare and lovely occasions literature and creative writing. Born and raised in Michigan, to this day I still live a mere twenty-five miles from my hometown of Pontiac. That said, on two occasions my family and I have taken extended leaves of absence from the beautiful Great Lakes region: once to the Carolinas for a three year idyll, and most memorably, two years in Mexico City, Mexico.
